Post Graduate Dept of English Dum Dum Motijheel College,has completed a full decade of glorious activitiessince 2010in Academicand Knowledge Extension projects by organizingnational and international seminars , Teacher Exchange Programmes, Workshops on Literature and Language and Creative writings. In 2021 we have now an excellent record of achievement in academic and creative activitiesthat will encourage teaching and learning in the arena of higher education extending the fronter of knowledge.. Dattani Archive for Research in Indian English Literature Studies which is a digital foruminaugurated by the living legend of Indian Englishpoetry Mr. Mahesh Dattani in our college for popularizing Indian Authors in English in all the genres of writing is in the process of making and is shortly going to the registered as an an Autonomous society for Research in literature and language. We have a plan to start a NET Coaching Centre from the PG English Dept for the English students of the Masters Courses of our college and also from outside. We are very soon processing the registration Students of thePG English department have a commitmentto their assignment under the guidance of very eminent and enthusiastic teachers veteran with experience and young one with innovative ideas and positive vibes , they have attained wonderful academic success as almost all students after passing out have got admission for B.Ed and other post –Masters courses for job . A good number of students have successfully completed their NET and SET and got appointment in Colleges all over the state. The department invites eminent teachers from all over India and abroad and even physically many eminent scholars and Researchers of performing arts poets, authors from Europe, USA and Canada have attended the workshops of the PG Dept of English . Academicians of many universities including Rabindra Bharati University,Burdwan University , West Bengal State University ,Kalyani University have worked as faculty members of the PG English Dept . The students of the PG Dept come from nearly all over the state of West Bengal and even from outside from the states like Assam ,Bihar and Jharkhand which lent a variety to our academic scenario. Many live in Paying Guest system for ensuring 75% and more of attendance. Till 2018 the PG Dept has framed its own syllabus and Since 2019 as per WBSU circular , the PG English dept is following the syllabus of WBSU . Brilliant results are the outcome of brilliant teaching and cooperation from the students. The excellent teacher taught relation and almost zero complaint of ragging and other undesirable activities in the PG Campus made all good things happen . Students and teachers regard themselves as a family and we have zero tolerance to any form of dishonest practices and discrimination on the basis of caste creed gender and religion. In the changed situation , students are now given teaching through online classes where teachers of the dept along with the invitee teachers are committed to the betterment of the teaching –learning process. It is hoped the in future years too the Dept will be able to hold its head high and leave an imprint in the arena of Higher Education and research. Many of our students are now employed as Assistant Professors and HOD in different colleges of West Bengal . Still we are not fully satisfied and we feel that we have many projects to complete , many dreams to realize and many more miles to go.
